President's Season Close Message

I would like to extend a personal thank you to my friends and colleagues on the Executive Committee.  Without their dedication, loyalty and passion for achieving positive outcomes, United Netball would not be where it is today.

This year we had 13 teams (increased by 3 from 2008) 125 players, 15 United players selected in the representative teams for PRNA, and the largest number of United members either Umpiring or commencing their Umpires course.

Of even greater note, is that out of 13 teams (2 non-competitive), 8 teams made it through to Semi’s and all 8 competed in the Grand Finals, which is just awesome. 4 of those teams took out the Premiership!!!!

We now have all our Coaching equipment and our courts (thanks to Flora Bradley and Peta Leamy) and can kick off next years Winter season with our own courts and great equipment for training.  The Committee are aiming to run a “Sparkles” program in the Xmas holidays to start attracting Netta players into United for next year and create more awareness about United Netball. 

And the achievements don’t end there.  United Netball have been instrumental in bringing the United Netball and Football Divisions to the online world with the best website in the Region (dare I say Australia) and also creating a player database which records all players details, teams and player achievements.

I am also very pleased to say that United Netball have built a reputation this year as an extremely professional outfit and our website statistics demonstrate that!

Presentation events were highly successful thanks to the Committee and the volunteers who actively worked to ensure that we had a fantastic set of events for all players and their families.

Next year, we will continue our fundraising efforts to look at improving our Netball Club even more.  We cannot stop fundraising as improvements (ie repainting) will be needed to the Courts in 5 years and equipment will need to be replaced, and we would like to be in a position in the future to subsidise some of the costs for players, such as paying for photos for each player. So it can’t stop.  We have held our own financially this year and remained in a positive state throughout the year.  Thanks Peta Leamy (Treasurer) !!!

Registrations will also be moving next year to the online world removing a large amount of manual overhead from the Committee.  This will be directly integrated to PRNA and Netball QLD.

A huge thanks also to all the volunteers that have helped the Club out this year.  Not only coaches & managers but also to the parents and supporters of the players who help with scoring, organising fundraising etc.  Without volunteers the club wouldn’t run so thank you!!!

Of special mention is Peta Woodgate.  Peta has committed a massive amount of time as our Uniform convenor over the last 3 years, and sadly next year won’t be coming back to this role. Peta, a heartfelt thank you as it is not an easy job and we look forward to your continued involvement with the Club in years to come. Welcome to Camala Vosten as our new Uniform Convenor and to Donna Schlatter our new Fundraising Coordinator.  Trescia Grice of note, thank you!!! Trescia established for United Starz and amazing amount of efforts to fundraise for our wonderful Club this year and you and your family will be greatly missed.  Good Luck in Mackay!

Thank you for your support to me throughout the last 12 months and I hope I can bring positive results to the Committee in formal or informal capacities in years to come.
