COACHING ACCREDITATION
In support of our objective for the ongoing development of players, and to provide learning opportunities for community based coaches, Rivers’ actively promotes and encourages coaches to attend Football Federation Australia ("FFA") accreditation courses.
In 2009, eight Rivers’ coaches were successful in gaining FFA accreditation at either Junior or Youth Licence courses. In addition, a number of non-competitive coaches successfully obtained their Grassroots Football Certificate, being the entry point for all community coaches.
In 2010, Rivers will again be hosting a Grassroots Coaching Course on Sunday, 7th March 2010 (8.30am to 11.30am). The course will again offered free of charge to all participants.
Below is a brief overview of the Grassroots Coaching Course, as outlined by Football Queensland:
"The course aims to help grassroots coaches perform their role more effectively, by giving clear guidance on the nature of their role and the kinds of activities they should include in their training sessions with kids.
This is an excellent way for beginner coaches to learn the basic ‘tools of the trade’ so that they feel more comfortable about teaching football to youngsters, and their players receive quality football experiences.
All coaches who attend the course will receive the FFA’s book, ‘Coaching Grassroots Football’ and an attendance certificate.
It is recommended that coaches attending the course be 15 years of age and above so they can fully appreciate the content of the course.

Junior & Youth Licenses
Coaches wishing to progress to the next level of their coaching certificate (i.e. Junior and / or Youth) can do so by booking an available course on Football Queensland’s website (www.footballqueensland.com.au).
Rivers recognise the value of coaches who attend these coaches and, as such, will fully reimburse participants for the cost of these courses over a two-year period (subject to conditions).
