2010 SEASON

Pine Rivers United formed its first football (soccer) team in 1967 under the leadership of the late Jack Gurteen. Since then, Junior Football at Rivers has been an integral part of the now Moreton Shire, fielding 29 junior teams and launching a Squirts programme for 3 to 5 year olds in 2009.

Rivers also offers an academy programme for 9 to 16 year olds. The ten week programme is run in conjunction with normal team training sessions, enabling players to receive coaching three nights per week. The programme’s aim is to improve players’ technical ability under the guidance of FFA qualified coaches and operates under the direction of Rivers’ Director of Coaching, John Browett. Since its inception in 2007, the academy programme has been a resounding success and is now firmly entrenched in our football calendar.

In addition to our coaching clinics, we have enjoyed much on-field success. In 2009, individual team achievements included:

• U13 Div 1 Grand-Finalists with this team promoted to the highest division in Brisbane in 2010, the Brisbane Junior League.

• U14 Div 3 Minor Premiers, remaining undefeated in season 2009.

• U11 Div 2 Grand-Finalists.

• U13 Div 3 Semi-Finalists.

• U12 Div 2 Girls Semi-Finalists.

• U11 Div 2 Carnival Winners.

• U10 Dutton Wolves Carnival Winners.

• U9 Wigan undefeated in season 2009.
