| Welcome message from the Director of Coaching...
Welcome to the 2010 season. This year we hope to keep up the good work on the training ground which will see the continued development of all our players.
The club has appointed two assistant directors of coaching, David Warburton and Craig Berens. Both are well qualified and have many years of coaching experience. Dave, Craig and I will oversee and compliment the team coaches’ program ensuring all players receive quality coaching throughout the season.
Added to this will be the ten week academy programs which will run in conjunction with the normal team training sessions, enabling our players to be coached three nights a week which is in line with Football Australia policies for young players.
During the off season the club hosted two Football Australia Coaching Courses. Junior and Youth Licenses were awarded to eight of our club coaches. Pre season training begins for the older age groups mid January and the first week in February will see all teams back onto the training fields.
Last year saw our Thirteen’s Division One side do very well; the squad have been rewarded with promotion to the 14 BJL competition. While the BJL competitions are stronger, the quality players in this age group should see our team be more than competitive.
We will also be fielding teams in the fifteen and sixteen’s age groups under qualified coaches Stefan Griffin and John McCall. The yardstick for both coaches will be working towards developing the players to become part of the Pine Rivers Youth squads in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
With lots of commitment from parents, players and coaches 2010 should be another successful year for Rivers, the Premier Club.
Yours in Football,
John Browett, Director of Coaching
