OF PINE RIVER UNITED SPORTS CLUB INC

 

   Brian joined Pine Rivers United Soccer Club in 1975 when his two sons started playing the world game; little did he know that in 2009 he would still be involved with the club. During his time at “Rivers” Brian has become one of the clubs staunchest supporters, both on and off the field.  Not being satisfied with just being a parent on the sideline his involvement has included:- Junior Coaching, Organise Major Fundraising for “The Club”, Junior Committee Member, Senior Committee Member and Senior Chairperson, Qualified Referee, Club Sports Trainer, Field Maintenance Manager and Club Working Bee Organiser. Never to be forgotten, he played in the “Dad’s Teams” both home and away. Brian’s contribution through his building trade coupled with his organisational skills helped achieve the construction of the current Clubhouse, Dressing Rooms, and original Grandstand (wooden one). Brian was also involved with lighting field five, underground watering on Field 1, and the list goes on and on.  Brian was also involved in the construction of house’s which were funded and built by club members, then sold for profit with those profits going to the club as revenue. When his boys moved out of the Junior Division ”Griffo” moved over to the Senior Division where he worked tirelessly to help the Senior Division achieve their goal of gaining entry into the  “Brisbane Men’s XXXX Premier League competition. This team then became known as “The Entertainers” a group of wonderfully talented players who nearly all started their football careers with “Rivers”.  Juniors. Development was the norm. at “Rivers” during these times.

During his time as Senior Chairperson “Griffo” has seen the “Predators” win Div 1 Premiership and  Grand Final 2002 giving them promotion again into Premier League, Grand Final Runners up 2003, 2^nd in fixtures and Grand Final Runners Up 2004, 3^rd in Fixtures, Premier League Grand Final Winners, Runners Up Premier League Cup and  State Cup Winners in 2005.

We could go on and on about “Griffo’s” contribution to “Rivers” but the above gives you a good idea of what a wonderful  “Club Volunteer” Brian is to Pine Rivers United Sports Club. Brian is still with the Senior Division doing his Sports Medicine, and the photo above is of the Senior Committee that was with him for many years running a very successful  Senior Division.

“Griffo” celebrated his 60^th birthday on the 18^th of this month with family and friends and we thought it was an appropriate time to do this write up and say from all of your friends at “Rivers”
