About Pine Rivers United Sports Club

Premier Cup Winners 2007

AWARDED Brisbane North & Districts Junior Soccer Association's CLUB OF THE YEAR FOR 2004.

Pine Rivers United Sports Club is located in the heart of Pine Rivers Shire at Wendy Allison Park facing busy Samsonvale Road, Strathpine. It is a fully licensed club with gaming machines and caters for men's football, women's football and junior football as well as netball and social darts. Whilst a multi-sports club, the Club's core sport is Premier League Football and as such attracts talented junior players and their families from outlying areas such as Redcliffe, Caboolture and Bribie Island and nearby districts such as Sandgate, Albany Creek, Petrie and Kallangur.

The Club was formed as a soccer club in 1967 by a local man Jack Gurteen, from a group of Pine Rivers High School students who used to kick a ball around in their lunch time. The lads approached Jack and a game was arranged with Redcliffe City U14's at Redcliffe. The Pine Rivers team won 5-3! As a result, parents of the winning team decided to get together and start a club. At the same time a number of youngsters from Lawnton State School came along and asked for a game. They were 9-12 year olds. Jack arranged a game against Zillmere, but Rivers lost 16-0. The Club later became incorporated as a multi-sports club. The current clubhouse was built in 1978.

Facilities include a floodlit main football pitch on which our men and women play day and night games, as well as two other well lit training fields which are used for our Junior player games. There are also two floodlit netball courts.

During the off-season, there are social six-a-side and five-a-side competitions for seniors and juniors. These run at night from early September until the Christmas break.

The new Management Committee strongly believes 2008 to be a turning point in the Club's history.

Pine Rivers United Junior Football and Netball are major participants in providing to Pine Rivers' and surrounding districts' youth an avenue to play a sport throughout the winter and summer seasons.

Last year our semi-professional senior team again played in the Premier League Final Series and won the Premier Cup.

By having a successful team in the Premier League we hope to increase our Junior numbers further as this provides an exciting avenue and goal for these younger players to strive for in their futures as football players.

Several times throughout the year we invite teams from other clubs in and around Brisbane as well as from Kingaroy, Gympie and Byron Bay to compete in our Junior Carnivals. In 2007 these Carnivals saw Pine Rivers compete well in every age group; which is a great achievement by any standards.
