President's Message
Welcome everyone, to the 2009 Football and Netball season at Pine Rivers United Sports Club. I am very excited about this season, for a number of reasons. Firstly, we will be continuing with our drive to further develop the skill levels of our players in both Netball and Football, through the programmes developed by the respective Directors of Coaching. We also have the respected talents of Roberto on the board this year to help with Football development.
We are introducing this year for the first time, the Squirts Programme, that enables children for the ages of 3 to 5 to enjoy the excitement of developing their football skills. We are also introducing a Young Leaders Programme, that will give our young men and women the opportunity to develop their skills in coaching, managing and refereeing. This will give them the skills to experience other aspects of their sport, besides playing.
There are physical changes to be made to the club this year. Hopefully by sign-on weekend, the bank between the main field and the lower fields will have been terraced from the club house to the far side of the grandstand. This will make this area more user friendly and will provide an undercover seating area behind the grandstand. Also the Netball courts behind the club house will be refurbished, hopefully in time for the start of the season. This will give the netball teams, modern training facilities at their club.
Parents, don't forget that pre-season football musters begin soon after the sign-on weekend, so don't let your child miss out. These are great opportunities to rekindle friendships from last season, or to meet new families. I hope to meet everyone throughout the season, so if you see me at the bbq, or wandering around the junior fields, or in or around the club house, please say hello or introduce yourself.
Yours in football and netball
Mark Millard, President
